A
rtist Achilleas Christou presented his sixth
solo exhibition of paintings at Gallery Ky-
priaki Gonia in Larnaca from 11 to 29 April 2014.
The exhibition was opened by the visual artist Ev-
ros Evriviades.
Achilleas Christou was born in Paris and studied
art and photography. He also attended art school
and followed courses in the art of steel and metal
constructions. He has had five solo exhibitions in
Nicosia, Paphos and Larnaca and has taken part in
many group exhibitions. His work is characterised
by freshness and harmony and coordination of
movement and shapes within explosions of bright
colours.
LiteraryArt CriticAndreas Hadjithomas remarks:
“The work of Achilleas Christou has inner path-
ways that lead to his personal view of the world
that surrounds him and through which he is strug-
gling to correlate comprehensively and communi-
catively; they are characterised by sensitivity, the
brightness of colour and the tandem dynamics de-
veloped therein.
Bold and warm colours express his personal feel-
ings with regard to the environment, but also to
the atmosphere within which he himself wishes
to move and create. Behind all this are personal
quests, extensions and interpretations of the artist’s
life as they are printed on his subconscious.
“Achilleas, in a plain style with simple expressive
means, manages to capture the interest immediate-
ly and to surprise with the boldness of colours. He
succeeds in combining this boldness with sensitiv-
ity, but also with the aesthetic identification of the
image.
“He has succeeded in presenting a balanced form
and content that results in a dynamic conclusion.
