he Minister of Education and Culture, Costas
Kadis, opened a photography exhibition about
the Larnaca District village of Athienou at the Kal-
linikio Town Hall of Athienou on 3 July 2014,
which will run for two months during the summer.
The photographs on show are part of a Photog-
raphy Exhibition announced last March by the
Parents Association of the Public and Commu-
nity Kindergarten of Athienou, in cooperation
with the Cyprus Photographic Society – Nicosia
Branch. The entire event was under the auspices
of the Municipality of Athienou.
The winners of the Athienou Photography Com-
petition were presented with their awards during
the opening, while kindergarten pupils provided
entertainment.
The theme of the competition was Athienou
and its surroundings. Participants could cap-
ture Athienou, its residents, its occupations and
professions, or take portraits, photographs of
antiquities and the village’s astounding natural
beauty. The aim of the competition was to help
Cypriots, and also foreign visitors, become bet-
ter acquainted with the Municipality of Athie-
