He has worked as a TVdirector, writer and produc-
er and currently teaches screenplay at the Screen-
playWorkshop.
Costas Constandinides
: Film Scholar. Dr Cos-
tas Constandinides is Assistant Professor of Film
Studies at the Department of Communications of
The University of Nicosia, Cyprus. He holds a
postgraduate degree and a doctorate degree from
the University of Reading, UK (MAFilm and The-
atre Studies, 2003; PhD Film Adaptation, 2007)
and an undergraduate degree from the University
of Cyprus (BA in English Studies, 2002). He has
taught Film Studies at the Department of Film,
Theatre and Television of the University of Read-
ing and he is the author of
FromFilmAdaptation to
Post-celluloid Adaptation: Rethinking the Transi-
tion of Popular Narratives and Characters across
Old and New Media
(New York/London: Contin-
uum, 2010). He is currently co-editing (with Yian-
nis Papadakis) a book length project titled
Cypriot
Cinemas: Memory, Conflict and Identity in the
Margins of Europe
(New York/London: Blooms-
buryAcademic, forthcoming).
Constantinos Sarkas
: freelance journalist. After
graduating from South Bank University in London
in 2001with a BSc inMedia&Society, he graduat-
ed from the University of Newcastle Upon Tyne in
2002 with an MAin Film Studies. From 2003 until
2005 he was a permanent member of the editorial
team at
Time Out Athens
magazine where he also
contributed articles to the Film team led by Greek
film critic Thodoris Koutsoyianopoulos. From
2005 until 2012 he was the FilmEditor at
Time Out
Cyprus
. He also contributed articles to
Madame
Figaro
magazine and
City Free Press
newspaper
and has written for UK film publications including
Little White Lies
. He is the Events Coordinator at
London independent cinema and arts centre Rich
Mix, which annually hosts screenings for the BFI
London Film Festival.
International Jury
The Cyprus Film Days International Jury consists
of acclaimed professionals active in the interna-
tional cinema area.
This year,
Martin Schweighofer
presided over the
festival’s International Jury. Executive Director of
the Austrian Film Commission (AFC) – the offi-
cial agency for strategic support and promotion of
Austrian cinema abroad – studied journalism and
drama at the University of Vienna. He was a film
and theatre critic and arts editor for Austrian peri-
odicals until 1993.
He is the founder and director of the film festival
Diagonale
(1993-1996) and founding member of
the pan-European organisation
European Film
Promotion
(EFP), currently member of EFP’s
Stratos
