About the Festival
Cyprus Film Days
, co-organised by the Cultural
Services of the Ministry of Education and Culture
and the RIALTO Theatre, has become established
as the most successful event to highlight feature
films, bringing together the Cypriot audience and
international independent cinematography.
Established in 2001, the Festival’s aim is to pro-
mote international and Cypriot cinematography,
support and project the work of independent crea-
tors, highlight new talents, and also to constitute
the focal point for the cinematography of the three
continents that surround Cyprus.
A three-member committee is responsible for the
films’ selection, the programme elaboration for
the screening and the parallel events, while a Jury
consisting of internationally recognised profession-
als, is responsible for the International Competi-
tion Section of the Festival, called
Glocal Images
.
Awards include the Best FilmAward, Special Jury
Award, and Glocal Images Award. The audience
also gets the chance to vote for the most popular
film that will also be awarded.
Besides
Glocal Images
, the festival’s second pro-
gramme is
Viewfinder: A Close-ip of Contempo-
rary International Cinema
; a non-competitive
section hosting awarded films of the past festival
year selected according to criteria set by theArtistic
Committee.
Special tributes, parallel screenings, workshops
and musical events, complete the programme of
the official International film festival of Cyprus.
All films are presented in their original language
with Greek and English subtitles. The Festival
takes place in Limassol and Nicosia.
