About Theatro Ena
Theatre Ena started operating on 1 October
1987. Its founder, Andreas Christodoulides,
still works at the theatre as its Artistic Director.
Christodoulides had felt the need for an alterna-
tive theatre to those operating back then – the
Cyprus Theatre Organisation (THOC) and New
Theatre Vladimiros Kafkaridis – which would
present the Cypriot public with plays other the-
atres would not dare touch.
Thus, through the projection of pioneering
works – or classical works presented in a pio-
neering way – along with excellent technical
support, Theatro Ena carved out its course and
radically changed the theatre scene in Cyprus.
It greatly supported Cypriot plays, often pre-
senting works by Cypriot writers and organis-
ing readings. Starting off with just one stage, it
later added the “Other Space”, the Constantia
Cinema, the Municipal Market in Limassol and
recently, the Foyer, which is also the theatre’s
new entrance.
