teaching and advice of the celebrated Czech harp-
sichordist Zuzana Růžičková. He was for three
yearsArtist-in-Residence at NewCollege, Oxford,
and now makes his home in London.
Concert with theAmarcord Vocal Ensemble
Founded two decades ago by former members of
the St Thomas’s Boys Choir in Leipzig, the Am-
arcord Vocal Ensemble has since become one
of the world’s leading vocal ensembles. Nowa-
days, alongside the Gewandhaus Orchestra and
St Thomas’s Boys Choir, the Amarcords are the
leading representatives of Leipzig’s music scene
all over the world and they have participated in the
most important festivals. TheAmarcord Ensemble
appeared in Cyprus for the first time, as part of the

International Pharos Chamber Music Festi-
val
, on 25 May at The Shoe Factory. The concert,
which was organised in collaboration with the
Goethe-Institut Cyprus and supported by the EU,
was diverse and extremely exciting – 19
th
century
Lied by Robert Schumann, Jakob Ludwig Felix
Mendelssohn and their contemporaries, as well as
a musical journey with traditional songs from all
over the world.
