Phivos K. Klokkaris:
Turkish threat against the
Hellenism of Cyprus
Despite its technical
structure – due to its sub-
ject matter – the book
Turkish threat against
the Hellenism of Cyprus
also has literary merits.
It is a well written and
balanced manual, which
covers all aspects of the
Cypriot tragedy method-
ically and with impres-
sive documentation, with the aim of highlighting
the dangers and proposing a change of strategy on
dealing with the problem of protecting the Hellen-
ism of Cyprus. The author, a retired lieutenant, has
a rounded and reliable grasp on the matter, and in-
vestigates the relevant components with evidence
and documents and completely scientific criteria.
Apart from the significance of such a work that
leads to national awareness and self-knowledge,
Phivos K. Klokkaris’ genuine patriotism and
anxiety over the country, which is deposited with
a flowing tongue in a simple and inductive way,
made him known as an underlying conscience
that eagerly attempts to make our people wiser. It
is worth adding that this is not achieved through
the use of academism or didacticism, but with the
use of clear and objective conclusions, without
any empathies or political obsessions. The book is
consumed by reason and prudence, elements that
are of necessity in these critical times for Cyprus.
