B-Hive by Tatiana Ferahian
“TheB-Hive is a drawing installation about cohabi-
tation, effective communication, coordination, cul-
tural exchange and, ultimately, collective survival
in a multicultural society. As a symbol, the bees’
lifestyle mimics that of the human social order – it
is a cooperative, productive social hierarchy. The
bees’ unflagging labours make them an emblem
of teamwork, perseverance, selflessness, and con-
stancy. The beehive is a visual metaphor for how
people who strongly value their individuality and
freedom of choice can also place a premium on
entering the local community (the beehive). They
can push that community to recognise the natural,
moral law which provides a common ground be-
tween different religious believers for the funda-
mental moral issues affecting the common good in
societies. With this disciplined reflection, we have
a common language for trying to work and live to-
gether in a morally acceptable way.”
Tatiana Ferahian was born in Lebanon in 1970.
She now lives and works as a part-time elemen-
tary school art teacher in Cyprus. She has had
three solo shows and has participated in numerous
national and international art exhibitions and bien-
nales. She represented Cyprus at the International
Olympic Committee “Sport andArt” Competition
in the painting category in 2012 in Lausanne.
