The Orchestra’s leader and soloist is Pavla Francu,
who has participated in gala performances with
Josef Suk, the Prague Philharmonia, CNSO, FBM
Zlin, the Slovak Chamber Orchestra, the Czech
chamber orchestra and the State Philharmonic Or-
chestra, Kosice; she has also performed at violin
recitals in France, Germany, Italy andAustria.
Conductor, composer, pianist and performer
Val-
entina Shuklina
comes from the Ukrainian city
of Nikolajev, where she graduated from the High
Music College as a pianist in 2001. Valentina
moved to Czech Republic, where she graduated
from the Prague State Conservatory as a composer
and a conductor (prof. H. Farka, M. Namcova,
M. Kosler). In 2006 she studied in the conduct-
ing department at the Academy of Music Art in
Prague under the direction of H. Farka, T. Kout-
nik, L. Svarovsky, Ν. Baxa, J. Strunec, L. Matl
and J. Chvala. During her tenure at the Academy
of MusicArt in Prague she conducted a number of
Czech orchestras, including the Chamber Prague
Symphonic Orchestra, the Chamber Philharmonic
Orchestra Pardubice, the Plzen Philharmonic Or-
chestra and the Philharmonic Orchestra Hradec
Kralove; in cooperation with the Opera Studio
TON (Academy of Music Art) she worked up the
Donizetti operas
La Serva Padrona
, and
Livieti
di Traccolo
. In 2008 she attended N. Baxa’s In-
ternational Opera master class in Usti nad Labem.
Valentina regularly collaborates with the Chamber
Orchestra Quattro, the Prague Royal Orchestra
and the Symphonic Orchestra of Jindrichuv Hra-
dec. Since 2009 she has worked with a number of
dramatic theatres as artistic director and supervi-
sor. In 2009 Valentina founded the Independent
Opera Studio, which pairs classical operas with
unconventional stage sets.

Othello, a Mauritanian, is a high-ranking officer in
theArmy of the Republic of Venice. He is married
to Desdemona and deeply in love with her. When
Othello promotes an inexperienced soldier over
Iago, he becomes the victim of Iago’s vengeance.
Taking advantage of Othello’s passion for Desde-
mona, Iago convinces Othello that Desdemona is
cuckolding him. Othello, blinded by jealous rage,
murders Desdemona and ultimately takes his own
life.
