• Mobility as an agent for urban “mixity” (activ-
ity theme: reclaim the street)
• Nature in urban environments (activity theme:
go natural in your own city)
• Sharing Educational Infrastructures (activity
theme: revisit the school yard)
The themes were enriched with material during
a workshop at the University Of Cyprus Depart-
ment Of Architecture in July, with an eye toward
implementing the activities.
Activities
The “U-A-W?” project involved activities that
took place in Nicosia, in tandem with workshops
and seminars. The activities included urban
games, temporal events and alternative urban
navigation tours designed to engage primary
and secondary school students and the general
public. The exhibition had a mobile character,
as it comprised the documentation of the activi-
ties and the “support tools” for facilitating them.
Initially based in Kasteliotissa, Nicosia, between
17 and 30 October, the exhibition moved to the
ground floor of the University of Cyprus Depart-
ment of Architecture in the old city of Nicosia
(68 Ledra Street) on 2 November, where it re-
mained until 17 November. An all-day interna-
tional seminar was organised on 10 November
at the Department of Architecture – one of the
main themes was “multi-rhythmic” urban envi-
ronments.
The activities were open to the public, which was
encouraged to participate. More information can
be found on the website www.urban-a-where.com.
