Arising out of a 2007 project with composer Brian
Ferneyhough inDresden, the ensemble El PerroAn-
daluz quickly became one of Germany’s most excit-
ing young ensembles for contemporary music. The
Ensemble is famed for the cultural background of
its members and for its partnerships with composers
such as H. Lachenmann, R. Saunders, A. Hölszky,
V. Tarnopolski, H. Hellstenius, G. Katzer and others.
The Ensemble’s vision, to emphasise the position
of NewMusic in society, is pursued through a wide
range of musical activity, including installations, op-
era productions, concerts and educational projects.
El PerroAndaluzwas awarded theKulturförderpreis
of the city of Dresden in 2011.Alongside its projects
in Germany, 2012 has seen the Ensemble invited
to Spain, England and Austria, where this season it
holds the position of Ensemble in residence at the
UniversityMozarteum Salzburg.
